Not Only The Typical Shawl

June 2, 2010 by article

Shawls are very classy and trendy clothing accent that can accentuate any occasion or attire. Most of us have regarded it as something a mature woman would certainly wear to a night out. But, in this day and age, shawls are actually more adaptable and more important than in the past. They aren’t just your standard Shawls anymore. They can be worn anywhere, anytime. Here are a few some uses of a shawl.

SHORE BUM. If you like going on the beach, light shawls can substitute for a sarong, light towels or blanket. Light shawls cannot just supply cover up but can add a level of heat after coming out of the cold beach water. It is also very helpful to keep the chill off when you are out for a affectionate seaside dinner. Who says you can’t use Shawls at the beach?

OFFICE STAFF. If you work in a business entity where air conditioning coldness is snowy cold, keeping a number of neutral shaded shawls will be more stylish than bringing a coat or perhaps shivering in cold. It is possible to fold and keep a few shawls inside your drawer and have it out once the office environment is being freezing for you.

WOMAN OF THE WORLD. When you take a trip all the time, shawls are a very essential fashion accessory. Being light yet warm and cozy, they just don’t take a lot of area in the suitcase. You may also tie one across the straps of the bag, and then untie it when the plane condition is becoming cooler. You can even use it being a blanket or smooth pillow. If you are aware of someone who also journeys a lot, shawls are great gift ideas, too.

NEW MOTHER. Only to stray away from the normal baby shower present, a shawl is an excellent option. Good quality shawls are so soft that even toddlers like them. New mothers may use them as magnificent receiving covers or crib blankets.

THE NIGHT OWL. If you’d prefer going out through the night routinely, shawls are generally perfect for every event. It is possible to wrap one around the cute springtime or summer time costume. It connotes elegance and fashion even if you are wearing a really casual wedge or sneakers. While in fall or winter months, covering one around your neck offers additional style compared to standard winter scarf. That makes anybody look a lot more chic.

SOCIALITE. For special occasions like wedding or evening party, nothing looks more advanced than wearing Shawls. It is really a simple black outfits more elegant. There are a lot of Hollywood stars who have been found using shawls prior to and after an award ceremony. This keeps off the cold while they’re on the red carpet.

WOMAN ON-THE-GO. A working woman needs something which is versatile and flexible without troubling her awareness of style. A shawl is good for that. Putting a unique-colored or printed shawl on the basic white tee shirt and jeans ensemble, just make the over-all look stylish, eternal yet really contemporary.

Manolo Blahnik (pronounced /məˈnoÊŠloÊŠ ˈblænɨk/ BLAN-ik), CBE, (born 28 November 1942 Santa Cruz de La Palma, Canary Islands), is a Spanish fashion designer and founder of the self-named, high-end shoe brand.

Born to a Czech father and a Spanish mother and born and raised in the Canary Islands (Spain), Blahnik graduated from the University of Geneva in 1965 and studied art in Paris. He moved to London in 1968 to work at fashion boutique “Zapata” and write for Vogue Italia. After showing his portfolio of fashions and set designs to Diana Vreeland, she told him that he should design only footwear. In 1972, Ossie Clark invited him to create shoes for his runway show. With a loan of £2,000, Blahnik bought Zapata from its owner and opened his own boutique.

Manolo Blahnik’s shoes flagship store remains to date in Old Church Street, Chelsea London.

Blahnik’s boutiques are located in London, New York, Las Vegas, Dublin, Athens, Madrid, Istanbul, Dubai, Kuwait, Hong Kong, Seoul and Singapore. Bloomingdales (for which he created his first American collection), Nordstrom, Neiman Marcus, Barneys, Bergdorf Goodman and Saks Fifth Avenue carry his line in the United States and newly opened in Dubai Mall.

Blahnik was awarded the honorary title of Commander of the British Empire in 2007 for his service to the British fashion industry.

The staff of the TV show, Angel, asked Manolo Blahnik for permission to use their company name onscreen. The company then provided footwear for the episode and insisted that characters wear the products even if the shoes were not shown on camera. The company was mentioned in the line: Cordelia: to Eve “Get out of that chair, and I will feed you those Manolo Blahniks – which are stunning, by the way.”

In the Will and Grace episode Polk Defeats Truman (season 2 episode 5) Grace scoffs at Karen’s budget imposed on her by her husband by saying “Karen, I think you can live on this. I mean Spain does, so…” Karen retorts “Grace they wear tires on their feet, I wear Manolo Blahniks.”

Where to Get Discounts for Coach Shoes

May 30, 2010 by article

The Coach outlet discount coupons tend to be very important so that they’ll help you get the most ouf your money to have the most popular stylish and hottest style of handbags.

Despite the fact that Coach goods found at the stores are of excellent quality, they are usually not necessarily some of the very best notch products that you would get within the Coach retail stores, trendy retail niche stores and the malls, for example Macy’s or Lord and Taylor. The reason being is Coach design and creates items designed for its outlet centers.

Coupons for Coach will help you spend less while browsing the Outlet Stores.  Discount codes usually are not provided to each shopper, but they are given to specific customers or those that were chosen randomly by a draw. The ones determined are informed by mail with a promotion.  They normally mail them throughout explicit instances, such as Back to School.  Remember that, the ones selected did some shopping before at a Coach Factory Outlet.  It is just a strategy to help you get back into a store.  Why not, they have not seen you in a while and would like you to view what’s new.  However it is a sensible way to save on a different purse or shoes.

Shoppers are aware that finding a designer purse marked down in a store is nearly impossible. In past years Coach has forbidden merchants stocking their products to take discounts. This strategy allows Coach to hold its brand and stay upscale in contrast to many designer lines who have sacrificed the exclusiveness by trying to get the more streamlined consumers.

What Will You Find at the Coach Outlet Factory?

Customers are able to come across much of the same selections of items found at the Coach stores, that include the following:

Luggage
Wallets
Totes
Mens Accessories
Womens Accessories

These kinds of discounts can also be used at any time and at any Coach outlet. They are really worth finding simply because you can use them for any product, not just on designer purses.

Rex Fur is More Than Just for Accessories

May 29, 2010 by article

With the increasing trend of fur sales internationaly, I am observing a new generation of fur styles emerging onto the sales room of several fur stores and fashion boutiques. Of course, mink is, and will continue to be number oneseller, but there is something that is somewhat new and growing rapidly, Rex Fur. Rex fur has for a long period been the accessory fur option for a number of years. Particularly with shawls and headbands and its predominantly weaved together. But what is it and why is it growing in attractiveness?

Rex is hybrid between a Chinchilla and a rabbit. The advantage of combining both animals has given the fur market a much-needed boost. Here are the reasons why:

1. Rex inherites from the Chinchilla a fur that is incredibly soft, hence why individuals prefer to wear it close to their face and neck. Plus chinchilla has the advantage of being more durable than rabbit, so it maintains its elegance for a extended time and does not shed.

Second, similar to rabbits, rex breeds very quickly, making the supply always available. In addition, Rex is ranched and consumed for human food in certain parts of the world. To some, this aspect is considered important.

Third, Rex is relatively inexpensive as compared to the other customary furs. For example, a Rex scarf will sell close to $80 to $150 for a soft fur headband. That kind of price makes rex more obtainable to a larger number of shoppers.

The end result is that  Rex is becoming a very silky fur that everyone can afford.

With its growing popularity, many fashion experts are creating new fashionable outerwear in a number of forms. For example, fashion guru Paula Lishman, who is known for her weaved garments, is inventing exquisite apparels, from fur jackets to blouses and pants done in  rex.

Another feature of rex that is trendy, is with two-sided jackets and fur liners. We are seeing a large selection of fur liners that are entirely reversible done in of rex. Because of the functionality, warmth and affordable price, the fur liners are becoming very popular. These features make sense to many buyers.

This article was produced by Dino Karatzios who is a third generation furrier. He learned the trade from his Father (Dimitrios who is the actual master furrier) and has been working in the industry since he was born. You can say that furs and luxury outerwear is practically in his blood. Powell Craft ladies nightdresses – the perfect style for you?

May 28, 2010 by article

Powell Craft ladies nightdresses are so popular because they are beautifully created and manufactured from the highest quality cotton . Many of the nightdresses are based on Victorian designs and every nightdress is handmade and hand embroidered. There is a now a wide choice of Powell Craft styles so how do you select the perfect nightdress for you?

That is a hard question to answer as they are all divine but you could start by deciding whether you would prefer long sleeves, short sleeves or a sleeveless nightdress to sleep in. This choice will probably partly depend on the time of year and the weather where you live . While all of the ladies nightdresses are made from 100 per cotton some of them are made from lighter cotton than others, and are therefore more suitable for warmer weather .

The next decision to make is whether you want a simple white cotton nightdress or something with a little more colour, pattern or embroidery detail . Most Powell Craft ladies nightdresses are white cotton but some have more involved embroidery and ribbon details on them, such as the ‘Joanna’ nightdress with pink ribbon detail and embroidered roses . The ‘Judy’ sleeveless nightdress has lilac ribbon and flower embroidery detail , and the ‘Rachael’ nightdress has seed pearl embroidered detail and button fastening.

Some nightdresses are also more colourful , such as the new ‘Spring Floral’ nightdress, the ‘Chloe’ blue and red rose nightdress, and the ‘Tiffany’ floral print nightdress.

Another factor in making your decision could be the shape and fastening of the nightdress. Most Powell Craft ladies nightdresses come in one size but some of them have adjustable ties at the side or the back . Such as the ‘Alice’ lace edged sleeveless nightdress with ribbon side ties, or the ‘Maria’ sleeveless nightdress with strap sleeves and a ribbon tie under the bust. These kinds of styles are better if you like something a little more fitted.

Some Powell Craft ladies nightdresses are less fitted and more suitable to larger ladies , such as the ‘Eliza’ long sleeve, free fitting nightdress, the ‘Prudence’ short sleeved, full length nightdress, or the oversized, floaty ‘Valentina’ nightdress with bat-wing style sleeves. The length of the design may also bear upon your decision, as some nightdresses are full length and some are mid-length, such as the ‘Maria’ or the ‘Camilla’ nightdress with swiss dot detail and an elasticated back.

Whichever style you eventually choose every single Powell Craft ladies nightdress is handmade using the finest quality materials to provide the ultimate in comfort and style. With such a selection to choose from at www.dollyrose.co.uk there is a perfect Powell Craft nightdress for everyone.

Leathers are Hip, Stylish and…. Natural?

May 27, 2010 by article

Mode changes, and so does the fabrics that are used for coats, but no other fabric has kept its popularity as persistent throughout the years as leather.

Working in the fashion business for most of my life, I noticed that most shoppers are attracted towards organic textiles, like leathers, cashmere and furs. For some bizarre reason that I still do not understand, shoppers are attracted to products that are real as compared to synthetic textiles such as polyester or PU (polyurethane, also known as “pleather”).  Some shoppers express to me that they rather have on their back a natural and biodegradable fabric like leather since they feel more comfortable in it and their body breaths better. “It feels more natural”, one client told me. I had another client tell me that  putting on a “pleather” jacket is similar to wearing a garbage bag. Petroleum byproducts such as PU(pleather) seem to turn many people off?

There are individuals that will argue that leather is no longer natural once it has been through the tanning treatment. The argument is that there are so many synthetic compounds involved in the tanning method that leather no longer is biodegradable. And maybe there is some truth…but a very small minority of leather fashions actually use this kind of treatment. I am a 3rd generation coat maker and I see many leather coats and leather jackets that are so ancient that they are starting to degrade. Leather jackets are still biodegradable using today’s tanning practices, but they need to come from tanneries that are using particular vegetable oils (which is majority of the tanneries in developing countries).

Another cause why I view leather jackets are fashionable is because they can not be completely imitiated. Every leather hide is unique; accordingly every leather apparel will have certain uniqueness. The scars or birthmarks that is on the leather is what makes the apparel special. And perhaps that is the true cause why we like leathers so much, we all desire something that is exclusive for us, so we can be special. As long as that state of mind will keep, I think it is safe to state that leather will be just as fashionable in10 years from now as it is today.

This commentary was produced by Dino Karatzios who is a 3rd generation coat maker. He learned the tradefrom his Father (Dimitrios who is the actual master furrier) and has been working in the industry from a very young age. You can say that furs and fashion outerwear is practically in his blood. Choosing and Wearing a Cravat

May 27, 2010 by article

Men’s cravats are conceptually an alternative for men’s necktie s. It is a neck wrap that is mid way between a men’s scarf and a men’s necktie . The is the forerunner of the modern tailored tie and bow tie, originating from 17th century Croatia . Cravats are worn as alternatives to ties for more formal occasions like weddings or because they are a comfortable break from the tight knots of ties they can be worn as a smart casual accessory.

Cravats for men can be made of a variety of fabric like cotton, silk, wool and linen  but the most popular material for cravats is silk. Silk cravats are highly popular because of their glossy finish and silky smoothness. Silk cravats have also become popular as wedding cravats for men, owing to their rich colour, royal finish, smoothness and obviously the neat, formal look that they lend to the overall outfit. Cravats can be worn by the groom, father of the bride, father of the groom, best man and the ushers. You can even get cravats for page boys. Usually everyone except the groom has matching cravats, possibly colour co-ordinated with the bridesmaids outfits. The groom needs to stand out and so usually has a different colour cravat, gold or silver are popular. Worn for the wedding or the evening reception cravats look stunning with a waistcoat in a matching fabric and when accompanied with a dress shirt and a morning suit or frock coat. For people who don’t wear cravats often pre-tied cravats (like pre-tied bow ties) are rather popular. They are easy to put on and knot is guaranteed to look good.

Outside of formal weddings, cravats for men have gone in and out of fashion over the decades . Cravats can work well with a cool, retro look. There have been photos of Jude Law and David Beckham wearing cravats in the last few years, and the trend has caught on. Younger men are happy to wear a casual or day cravat with an open neck shirt, tied loosely and tucked in like a scarf.

Wedding cravats tend to be in plain bold colours, but day cravats are available in a wide variety of designs from stripes to checks, plains to polka, and dense prints like paisley. A day cravat is tied like scarf, with a big loose knot tucked into the shirt. The knot may be secured with a cravat pin.

In shorts, for weddings a cravat is a must. For smart casual wear if you want to look a bit different, something stylish in a retro slightly eccentric way then why not try a silk day cravat.

What should I think about when buying a corset

May 25, 2010 by article

Helpful tips for choosing a corset

Corsets have been a staple fashion item for hundreds of years and are still very popular in a variety of stunning styles.  From Marie Antoinette to Madonna, it’s a necessity to get that cinched-in waist to flaunt your curves.

Corsets are both a fashion and financial investment, so choose wisely!  Below are some points you should consider when purchasing a corset.

  1. The first thing you need to consider is how often you will be wearing the corset. If you plan to wear one every day you should avoid tight-laced items which will contract your waist (and breathing!).  For occasional wear, a waist-clincher is ideal.

  1. Think about your reasons for wearing a corset.  Are you looking to reshape your or merely for a glamorous costume? You might consider a Designer corset with extra reinforcing; seaming, piecing and boning can transform your hips, abdomen and bottom.

  1. Decide on your fabric as corsets are available in many materials including: pvc, leather and satin. Satin corsets offer the guest a wide colour palette. For the plus-size woman, leather offers a bit of stretch and can be more comfortable.

  1. Prices for corsets range from less than £100 to over £500, so you’ll need to decide on your budget.

  1. An overbust corset provides support while creating cleavage; it can create the illusion of an ample cleavage while providing support.  Chosen well, a corset can heighten any bust no matter what your cup size.  Women with the fuller bust may feel more comfortable in an underbust corset – it will not provide support for the breasts, but can minimise the bust line by smoothing down the ribcage.

  1. Height is always a consideration when purchasing an overbust corset. If you are tall, you may need to order a ‘long’ version. Underbust corsets, however, are rightfulness for all heights.

  1. Sizing for corsets can vary, however, many corsets are sized according to either bra or waist size. If you are a 38C, you should choose a 38. If you’ve been blessed with breasts larger than a D cup, it’s always wise to go up one number, so a 40E should purchase a 42.  Sizing a corset is elementary – the size numbers relate to bust size. If you are a bust size 40C or D, you would wear a size 40 corset. For higher quality and more expensive corsets, these are sized according to your natural waist size. You need to simply subtract 4 inches from your natural waist size for your corset size. So, if you have a 34″ waist, you would require a 30″ corset.

If you are purchasing your product from an online shop and hence you’re not able to try it on first, it’s always a good idea to contact the store with your bust and waist measurements before fashioning your purchase.
